The best of Dolphy’s most popular stints in the entertainment industry are once again to be revived on Jeepney TV this July in celebration of his 85th birthday and in honor of his undying contribution to the world of Philippine comedy.
The King of Comedy’s signature television show, “Home Along Da Riles”, a situational comedy that aired on ABS-CBN from 1992-2003 and currently being re-aired on Jeepney TV, will recount the memories and let the laughter keep ringing. Special episodes such as when Kevin Kosme, Dolphy’s character, travels to the U.S.A. and meets up with his long-time comedy partner Panchito, as well as clip shows that put together the show’s best musical numbers, fantasy sequences and Kevin’s birthday celebrations along “da riles” are featured on all Thursdays of July, with special back-to-back episodes aired from 7:45 p.m. to 9:45 p.m.
Dolphy’s most memorable movie blockbusters such as “Dancing Master”, “Kung Ano’ng Puno, Siyang Bunga”, “The Best in the West”, “Good Morning, Professor”, and “Fung Ku” will stand as proof of his timeless talent as they air on “Reteatro” from July 22-26 at 3:00 p.m.
Meanwhile, Dolphy’s dramatic streak is showcased in the series “May Bukas Pa”, where he breathes life into the character of Pilo, who takes refuge in a home for the aged. These episodes of “May Bukas Pa” air on July 3, 4, 5, and 8 at 7:00 p.m.
On the “Let’s Go Linggo!” block of Jeepney TV this July, different facets of the King of Comedy will be shown, captured in the 2012 documentary “Dolphy: Hari ng Komedya”, the movie “John & Marsha ‘77” based on his long-running television series, and a Jeepney TV original special entitled “Dolphy: Song and Dance Man”, which culls together his best musical performances.
