3 Things You Still Don’t Know About Kris Lawrence

Get to know more about the Philippines’ newly crowned Prince of R&B (Jay-R was promoted as “King”) Kris Lawrence who recently launched his third studio album and first from GMA Records titled “Spread the Love.”

1. He tried to audition in American Idol

“Actually pumila ako pero sa sobrang dami ng pila sumuko ako. It’s so long, I swear the line is so long. Imagine here to E-Rod, the line like that punong puno ng tao. They’re camping out, doon ka matutulog sa labas naka-sleeping bag ka lang, tapos inisip ko na what if I get sick tapos sipunin ako, mapaos ako, tapos wala rin namang lalabas na boses…I give it up to those guys talaga,” he said.

Kris tried to audition for season 2 in the Pasadena leg of American Idol, the next year when Ruben Studdard won.

2. He is scared of cockroaches and ghosts

“Oh my God I’m scared of cockroaches. Ang pangit nila noh? Also, I’m scared of ghosts. I’m scared of the dark, my mind is the one who play tricks on me, let’s say bababa lang ako para kumuha ng tubig tapos sobrang dilim sa baba, tatakbo ako para lang kumuha ng tubig tapos tatakbo ulit paakyat,” he said.

3. It was his bestfriend Jay-R who convinced him to come home to the Philippines and join a singing contest

“I was so lucky that feeling ko sobrang swerte po ako nung dumating ako nung time na yun. Kasi there’s a lot of Fil-Ams trying to make it here. Ang dami, they came here to sing, they came here to act, but for some reasons they don’t catch their break.”

“Sobrang swerte ako na bestfriend ko si Jay-R kasi nung time na ‘yun. He went home (US) for vacation. Then he told me alam mo ‘yung mga uso ngayon ‘yung mga contests.’ He said ‘i-try mo kaya.’ In a matter of two weeks, I quit all my jobs, sumabay ako sa kanya umuwi dito. After 8 months I got in, the show started (Star in a Million) after 8 months, who would have thought na ako ang mananalo, so that’s when it all started,” he shared.

Kris is a mainstay of the GMA weekly musical variety show “Sunday All Stars.” He’s a contract artist of GMA Records and recently, he launched his new album called “Spread the Love.”

The album is now available in all branches of Astroplus, Astro Vision, Odyssey, The Landmark and SM Music and Video outlets nationwide. It is also available worldwide on digital format thru iTunes, Amazon, Spotify and OPM2GO.

Kim Chiu is still mourning the death of her mother!

Kim Chiu is still mourning the death of her mother!

Kim Chiu speaks out about the death of her mother Louella Yap Chiu. Mrs. Chiu died of brain aneurysm on June 23. Kim and her siblings were aware of her mother’s health condition.

In the press launch of “Bakit Hindi Ka Crush ng Crush Mo?“, the Kapamilya actress said she’s doing okay and still coping from their lost. She shared that when her mother died, she was still taping few scenes for the upcoming Star Cinema movie.

“Nagpapasalamat po ako kasi andoon po yung respeto nila sa akin kasi parang hindi muna namin pinagusapan. Trabaho talaga, mag take ka ng mga limang minuto tapos nun balik ka nanaman sa normal na Kim. Hindi ako mag dwell kasi madadamay yung pelikula”.

Kim added that it’s hard to shoot a comedy movie while mourning the loss of her parent.

“Hindi ko sasabihin na nadalian ako. Mahirap, mahirap siya kasi parang kailangan kong magpatawa, ngumiti. Ilang beses naming inulit ulit na mag take para kunan yung sobrang ligalig na eksena.”

During her mother’s passing, online bashers criticized Kim on social media.

“Itong show biz dito na ako nabubuhay, dito na ako lumaki. Hindi naman umabot sa gusto ko ng sumuko kasi at least nagkaroon naman ako ng break for two weeks and it’s enough.”

Kim doesn’t want to discuss anymore what she went through in the past couple of weeks.

“More or less ayokong pag-usapan yung mga nangyari, pero parte ng buhay yan. Part yan ng mga pagsubok na haharapin mo in your daily life. Masaya ako na na-overcome ko siya and andiyan yung mga tao sa paligid ko na hindi bumibitaw sa akin and sa kanila ako kumakapit.”

The actress shared Xian Lim showed his support who stood beside her during her mother’s passing.

“Nandiyan naman siya lagi and yung sincerity niya, nakikita ko naman. Pati sa nga kapatid ko lagi talaga siyang nage-effort. Yun talaga ang na-appreciate. Pinagkakatiwalaan ko naman si Xian.”

Kim doesn’t want to make a big fuss over their rumored romance and said labels are not important between her and Xian.

“Wag na nating gawing big deal kung kami na o hindi. Kasi kung sabihin man namin na kami na or hindi, wala din namang mangyayari o mawawala sa inyo. Hindi naman importante yung label as long as may shows naman kami, napapanood naman kami at napapasaya namin ang mga tao.”

She added:

“indi naman imporatante kung ‘ay sila’. Wala naman mawawal sa amin, wala ding mawawala sa inyo. Hindi namin minamadali yung mga bagay bagay kasi ang dami ding kaganapan sa aming mga buhay.”

“Bakit Hindi Ka Crush ng Crush Mo” will grace the big screen starting July 31, 2013.

Sorry, Pinoys Still Need A Visa to Visit Japan

MANILA, Philippines (UPDATE) – Filipinos still need to get a visa to visit Japan, contrary to a report circulating on the internet.

On Thursday, the Japanese embassy issued a statement denying it had removed visa requirements for Filipinos.

“The Embassy of Japan in the Philippines would like to clarify to the public that Japan has not lifted the visa exemption for the Philippines contrary to the recent reports. However, Japan has opened multiple-entry Visas to Filipinos,” it said.
Japan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement on June 25 saying it is granting multiple entry visas for Filipino citizens, valid for three years.

“In celebration of the 40th Year of ASEAN-Japan Friendship and Cooperation, the Government of Japan has decided to begin issuance from July 1, of multiple entry visas for short-term stay to nationals of the Republic of the Philippines (ordinary passport holders) who reside in their home country,” the MOFA said on its website.

Granting multiple entry visas is expected to increase the number of Filipino tourists who visit Japan.

The MOFA said Filipinos who have fulfilled certain conditions and who have an ordinary Machine-Readable passport (MRP), which meet International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) standards or an ordinary IC passport, may get a multiple entry visa.

With the visa, Filipinos may stay for 15 days in Japan. The multiple entry visa will be valid for up to three years.

Filipino netizens were abuzz about a report that erroneously indicated Japan granted visa exemptions to the Philippines and four other ASEAN countries.

However, Japan only granted visa exemptions to nationals of Thailand and Malaysia.

Filipinos who are interested in getting a visa to Japan should apply at the Japanese embassy through accredited agencies. The Japanese embassy in the Philippines does not accept direct visa applications.

Kris Aquino May Still Appeal Court Decision on Bimby

Source: www.abs-cbnnews.com

MANILA – The camp of television host Kris Aquino may file an appeal on the denial of the permanent protection order (PPO) against James Yap for their son James “Bimby” Yap Jr.

In an interview with ABS-CBN News on Thursday, Aquino’s lawyer Frank Chavez said they are seeking to get copies of the reports made by the social worker and the child psychologist, which supposedly became the basis of the rejection of the PPO for Bimby.

“Noong Martes, nag-file kami ng motion asking the court to provide us with copies of the reports made by the social worker and the child psychiatrist at ito ay didinigin ng husgado bukas, Biyernes. Depende kung ano ang nakalagay sa reports, then we will gauge our future actions and decisions kung ano ang nakalagay doon,” he said.

If the reports state safeguards for the eventual resumption of Yap’s visitation rights over Bimby, Chavez said then they will respect the court’s decision.

“If the report says that there is basis for us to [appeal the PPO for Bimby], we will do that. We will be remiss in our duty as counsel if we will just let these things pass by. Kapag may sinabi sa report that the visitation of the father will cause more harm than good, then we will call the attention of our client and let her decide,” he said.

While Yap’s lawyer Lorna Kapunan said the denial of the PPO for Bimby means Yap can now see his son, Chavez said he doesn’t see the reunion of father and son happening in the near future.

“It is not going to happen tomorrow, more so on Sunday because they prefer to see him on Sunday. That would be a modification without basis of the visitation rights, which only speak of Wednesdays and Fridays, never Sundays. Sunday is family day and James is out of the family,” he said.

Chavez said they have to know the “safeguards” first, which will be the topic of the hearing this Friday.

According to Chavez, Yap will see Bimby “in the fullness of time” but it should be done the right way. He added it was never Aquino’s intention to keep Bimby away from his father.

“Kapag ini-rollback mo ang time, from the beginning, hindi ipinagdadamot ni Kris ang pagkikita ng ama at anak. Medyo napuno lang siya, nagalit lang siya na ‘yung sa sanctity ng kanyang private room, pati iyon ay sinugod ni Mr. James Yap. Doon na siya nagalit, sobra na iyon. Wala na namang romantic illusion na mangyayari, why force the issue?” he said.

He said the particular incident was witnessed by Bimby and thus, “the issue regarding whether or not he can visit his son is not yet resolved with finality.”

Chavez said Aquino was satisfied that the court granted the PPO she filed for her self because it means the court believed her testimony.

“Nagkaroon ng vindication si Kris dahil hindi ni-reject ng court ang kanyang testimony. Pinaniwalaan siya ng husgado kaya siya nabigyan ng PPO. It is as simple as ABC. I don’t know why some people don’t understand,” he said.
