Columbia Pictures has unreeled the full trailer for its new action-thriller “Captain Phillips” starring two-time Oscar-winner Tom Hanks and can be viewed here after the jump.
Directed by Oscar-nominee Paul Greengrass (“United 93,” “The Bourne Ultimatum”), the film is the true story of Captain Richard Phillips (Hanks) and the 2009 hijacking by Somali pirates of the US-flagged MV Maersk Alabama, the first American cargo ship to be hijacked in two hundred years.
“Captain Phillips” is simultaneously a pulse-pounding thriller and a complex portrait of the myriad effects of globalization. The film focuses on the relationship between Captain Richard Phillips and his Somali counterpart, Muse (Barkhad Abdi). Set on an incontrovertible collision course off the coast of Somalia, both men will find themselves paying the human toll for economic forces outside of their control.
From a screenplay by Billy Ray, the film is based upon the book, A Captain’s Duty: Somali Pirates, Navy SEALs, and Dangerous Days at Sea, by Richard Phillips with Stephan Talty.
Opening across the Philippines in Oct. 23, “Captain Phillips” is distributed by Columbia Pictures, local office of Sony Pictures Releasing International. Check out the movie poster and red band trailer of the upcoming suspense-thriller “No One Lives” starring Luke Evans, Adelaide Clemens, Angus Macfadyen and Laura Ramsey.
Fourteen students appear brutally murdered, and the crime scene offers no clues as to the whereabouts of the one person who could be the only survivor, a young woman named Emma (Adelaide Clemens). Months later, some bandits attack a young couple’s car, and in it they discover the frightened Emma. Rubbing their hands together at the perspective of the considerable payoff for the “ransom”, they don’t realize that the ones who appeared to be their prey are actually much less defenseless than they seem. Director Ryûhei Kitamura continues his American adventure with a violent and ingenious thriller, manipulating all the genre conventions past and future to his taste.
“No One Lives” is a smart and original horror movie with at its heart a killer in the grip of a dark and twisted love affair.
Released and distributed by Solar Entertainment Corp., ‘No One Lives’ is coming to PH theaters soon!
